The pavilion “Global Bowl” which was exhibited in Tokyo until September 2021, has been relocated to the premises of Shelter headquarters.

The Global Bowl was produced as part of Tokyo Tokyo FESTIVAL Special 13 “Pavilion Tokyo 2021”. This is the pavilion that was exhibited in front of the United Nations University (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) from July 1 to September 5, 2021. The complex shape of twisted and tangled wood is made by combining 102 differently shaped parts carved out of wood.

After the completion of Pavilion Tokyo 2021, Shelter, which was in charge of wood processing and construction, took over and relocated in July 2022.

■ 3D design and processing technology “FREE STYLE WOOD”
3D design and processing technology “FREE STYLE WOOD” was adopted for the Global Bowl. Based on the 3D data, it is possible to produce parts with complex shapes by using the “cutting out wood” technology that Shelter put into practical use for the first time in Japan.
